MANILA Mayor Joseph Estrada wants his two sons, reelectionist JV Ejercito and Jinggoy Estrada, both win the senatorial elections.
“I want them both to win. Any father will like to see their children together,” Estrada said in an interview after the campaign sortie in the San Andres covered court.
The Hugpong ng Pagbabago led by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio is supporting both Sen. Ejercito and Estrada.
The two brothers attended the campaign rally, sharing the same stage, hosted by their father, Mayor Estrada.
“It’s an ordinary family affair. It happens, remember blood is thicker than water. We can go over those problems,” Estrada said when asked his opinion about the claim of Sen. Ejercito that their votes might split because of the confusion among the voters.
Former Senator Estrada is seeking a senatorial seat despite his pending plunder case over the pork barrel scam. He is still facing plunder and multiple graft charges due to alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam amounting to P183 million.
When Mayor Estrada was asked what advice he could give to his children he replied: “They are old enough to know what is good for them.”
Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Sen. Ejercito appealed to the people not to look at their family issue but rather check the track record of the candidates.
Ejercito was able to have two important measures the Healthcare Act and the Housing Department passed into law.
During the campaign sortie in San Juan, Jinggoy appealed to the people of the city to make Sen. Ejercito number one.
This is contrary to his statement in another interview during which he said in the coming elections, he only wished three persons to win – himself, Mayor Estrada and daughter Janella, who is running for Mayor of San Juan.
