A former detainee for the crime of theft was arrested for illegal drugs by members of San Juan Police during a buy-bust operation early Saturday morning.
In a report submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba by San Juan Police chief Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes the suspects was identified as Jay Bernales y, alias Jay, 34, single and resident of D. Vecencio St., Bgy. Sta Lucia, San Juan City.
Reyes said teams of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) headed by Senior Insp. Dionisio Jonathan De Castro conducted a buy-bust operation along P. Parada Street Bgy. Sta Lucia at around 12:30 a.m.
Prior to the arrest, a drug transaction was hatched against Bernales who was peddling marijuana and shabu.
An undercover police agreed to meet Bernales, who took the money after handing the illegal drugs. Upon pre-arranged signal, other operatives immediately arrested the suspect.
Authorities said the suspect yielded additional five heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing undetermined quantity of suspected dried marijuana leaves.
Reyes said, Bernales is included in the drug watchlist categorized as pusher and former surrenderee under police “Oplan Tokhang” but continued his illegal drug activities.
Aside from being a pusher, Bernales is also a notorious robber/thief.
He was detained at the San Juan City Police Station Jail for theft in 2013 but was released in 2014 after the complainant failed to attend court hearings.
San Juan cops continue to conduct aggressive operations against illegal drugs in the city.
The suspect is now detained at San Juan cell and facing charges of Violation of Sec 5 and 11 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
