POLICE arrested a jobless woman who was posing as an online seller of surgical masks after she duped two unsuspected victims Sunday afternoon in Caloocan city.
Mervyne Grace Dela Cruz, 22 of 1042 Ilang-Ilang St. Bgy. 185 Malaria was about to withdraw the second payment made by Dianne Marie Dayta, 28, store owner and resident of 2100 San Lorenzo Ruiz Barracks II at around 2:30 p.m. when he was apprehended by barangay officials of Bgy. 185.
A report received by Caloocan police chief P/Col. Dario Menor showed earlier, the suspect, posing as an online seller of surgical masks, posted and advertised the items she was selling thru her facebook account.
Dayta, while desperately hunting for the protective gear amid the corona virus disease (COVID) 19 outbreak, ordered from Dela Cruz 10 boxes of face masks and payment for its first delivery worth P1,200 was transferred thru Smart Padala.
However, the first delivery never happened and Dayta learned that Javier, her neighbor, also ordered from the suspect but no delivery was made, prompting them to seek the assistance of barangay officials after they were able to trace where the suspect claimed the first payment.
When the second payment was made, the suspect tried to claim the amount not knowing that barangay officials in the area were already waiting for her that resulted in her arrest.
The suspect was turned over by barangay officials to the Caloocan Police North Extension Office (NEO) for proper disposition.
