Family motorbikes together, dies together

A MOTORCYCLE rider and his nine-year-old son were crushed dead by a truck while his daughter was seriously injured after their vehice fell on the road Sunday evening in Valenzuela City.

Romeo Escamate, Jr., 34, security guard, and his son Mark Robert, both of Block 5 Lot 45, Bgy. San Vicente, Santo Tomas, Batangas died on the spot from massive head and body injuries while 10-year old Mary Lord Escamate, of 574 Dulalla St., Lingunan was rushed to the Valenzuela Medical Center for treatment of head and body injuries.

A report received by Valenzuela police chief Senior Supt. David Nicolas Poklay showed Romeo was driving a motorcycle, with his son and daughter as back riders, when he tried to overtake a truck along Dulalla Bridge heading towards west in Bgy. Lingunan at around 9:15 p.m.

However, another motorcycle coming from an opposite direction hit the left side portion of the victim’s motorcycle causing both of them to lose control and fall on the road.

Romeo and his son were run over by the truck’s left rear tire while Mary Lord sustained body and head injuries.

Supt. Poklay said his men are still tracking down the truck and the motorcycle that hit the victims.
