A fish vendor was shot dead after he tried to fight it off a robber before dawn yesterday in Malabon City.
Gerardo Yamogan, 54, of Blk. 13, Lot 11, Phase 2 Paradise Village, Bgy. Tonsuya, was rushed to Ospital ng Malabon but later transferred to Tondo Medical Center where he succumbed to bullet wounds in the body.
Police are hunting down the suspect, who immediately fled after taking the victim’s bag containing undetermined amount of money.
Malabon police investigators PO3 Julius Mabasa and PO2 Richard Andrew Calaycay said Yamogan was walking at Paradise Village at 1:30 a.m. on his way to haul fish at Navotas Fish Port when the suspect, armed with caliber .45 pistol blocked his path and announced a holdup.
When the suspect tried to grab the victim’s bag, the latter resisted and tried to fight it off, prompting the robber to shoot him repeatedly in the body.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered five empty shells and a live bullet for cal. .45 pistol at the scene which will be submitted to Northern Police District (NPD) Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.
