PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, yesterday lauded the capacity-building measures of the National Capital Region Police Office to effectively address threats posed by the deadly COVID-19 virus in Metro Manila.
"The NCRPO’s capacity building measures will ensure that they can immediately and sufficiently respond to public emergency situations. With health being a crucial issue at this time, prevention is key to keep our people safe,” the PNP chief said in commending the NCRPO headed by Major Gen. Debold M. Sinas for their feat.
The NCRPO has its own special care facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City which caters to Metro Manila policemen and other members of the police force who needs to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Sinas has also encouraged the five NCRPO districts to put up their own COVID-19 facilities with the support of local government units.
The NCRPO and its Regional Advisory Council are also involved in a massive program to fight the COVID-19 pandemic thru the decontamination an disinfection of Camp Bagong Diwa.
The NCRPO recently acquired a fire truck donated by its Advisory Council for use in responding to fire situation in Camp Bagong Diwa and nearby areas and in decontaminating and disinfecting the camp.
The NCRPO Fire Base Section which is under the supervision of the Camp Security Section was also activated after its men underwent training from the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Currently, the newly-activated Fire Base Section is composed of 12 personnel headed by a Police Executive Master Sergeant that functions as first responders in case of fire emergencies inside the camp and nearby areas.
