High Value Target slain in shootout

A drug suspect considered by authorities as a High Value Target (HVT) was killed in a shootout on Wednesday in Barangay Bahay Toro.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, Police Chief Superintendent Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the slain suspect as Frederick Dela Cerna alias “DekDek”, in his late 30s, jobless and resident of Sitio Incinerator, Bgy. Bahay Toro.

The report showed that at about 4:10 a.m., P/S 3 operatives under P/Supt Alex Alberto conducted anti-criminality patrol operation and spotted a group of male persons having a drinking spree on Sitio Incinerator, Bgy. Bahay Toro.

Police were supposed to accost the group but the suspects scampered to different directions and fired successive gun shots at the pursuing policemen.

Dela Cerna was spotted scaling the roof of the houses and hid in a kitchen at No. 106 Sitio Incinerator, owned by a certain Samuel Ranjo. He was ordered to surrender but opted to engage the policemen a firefight that resulted in his death.

Recovered from the suspect were three sachets of shabu, one sachet of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, one CZ Caliber 9mm Pistol without serial number, with eight ammos, one LTO Professional Driver’s License under the name of a certain Alvin Estanislao Tumaque, and around 50 rounds of ammunition for caliber 9mm.

Dela Cerna was known to be a street toughie in the area and had several warrants of arrest for murder. He was also tagged in the shooting of a Quezon City policeman.
