A High-Value target (HVT), said to be an associate of the Boratong Drug syndicate and behind the operation of the “Shabu Tiangge” in Pasig city, and his live-in partner were arrested following a raid on their house in Pasig City Thursday.
In a report submitted to EPD director Senior Supt. Joel Bernabe Balba, the suspects, Elden Piamonte, 38, and Adora Santos, 39, were nabbed inside their house at 54 San Bernardo St., Bgy. San Joaquin, Pasig City at 11 a.m.
Balba said the arrest was based on the search warrant issued by Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC ) for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Police said the operation was based on information from residents regarding the rampant drug trade in the area involving the suspects despite anti-drug campaign of the police.
After one month of surveillance, operatives confirmed the information and applied for a search warrant.
Seized were 36 heat- sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing 11 grams, two improvised tooters and aluminum foils placed in a black belt bag.
Records showed that Piamonte was included in Pasig City’s drug watchlist, categorized as pusher.
EPD also said Piamonte, a member of the Amin Buratong drug syndicate, was on the top 10 high-value targets list and had been arrested in 2017 for illegal drug cases.
It appears that operation of syndicate behind the Pasig “shabu tiangge” continue despite their leader, Amin Boratong, hauled to jail in 2009.
Boratong has been detained the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa and his family members now run the illegal drug operations in Pasig and nearby cities.
