A “HIGH-VALUE” drug target in Metro Manila was arrested by agents of the National Capital Region Police Office in a buy-bust operation in Makati City which resulted in the seizure of some P300,000 worth of shabu on Friday night, NCRPO director Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar announced yesterday.
Suspect Mark Lester Canlas alias “Boy Atab/Boy Tulak,” a 29-year-old resident of Barangay Kasilawan, Makati City was arrested in an entrapment operation in front of Puregold grocery store at the corner of Jose P. Rizal and Zobel Streets in Bgy. Singkamas 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Eleazar said that the buy-bust operation was conducted by combined operatives of the NCRPO Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, the Makati City Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Eleazar said that recovered from the suspect’s possession were 30 grams of the so-called poor man’s cocaine with a market value of P300,000, the boodle money topped by a marked bill and a Yamaha Mio 125 cc motorcycle which he used to transport the drugs.
The suspect was immediately whisked to the NCRPO-RDEU headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City shortly after his arrest. The recovered pieces of drug evidence were brought to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory Office for examination.
Eleazar said that the suspect will be facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
He ordered his men to conduct follow-up operations to identity and arrest the main supplier of the drugs recovered from the possession of Canlas.
