An armed man who broke into a compound inside a subdivision in Quezon City was shot dead by two duty security guards on Friday morning.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Brigadier General Ronnie S. Montejo commended security guards Roy Roman Tenorio, and his companion identified only as Daluyong both assigned at Filinvest 2 Subdivision, Bgy. Batasan Hills, in Quezon City.
A report at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the QCPD showed that at about 12 a.m., yesterday security guards detailed at the main gate of the said subdivision received a phone call from a resident identified as Sunshine Perez informing them that an unidentified male person sneaked into their compound.
After a few hours, another resident in the subdivision identified as Espi Josef Calubaquib informed the guards that they were just robbed by unidentified male person of P2,000 cash and two cellphones.
The guards reviewed a CCTV recording and were able to get physical description of the suspect.
At about 4 a.m., Tenorio conducted roving patrol and spotted the suspect along Baker St.
He approached the suspect and told him to surrender but the suspect got hold of a metal steel bar and attacked Tenorio who was quick to avoid.
Tenorio then pulled out his cal. 9.mm pistol service firearm but the suspect scuffled with him.
During the scuffle, the firearm went off hitting the suspect in the right leg.
The wounded suspect tried to escape but he fell on the ground after a few steps.
SOCO led by PMAJ Joseph Infante recovered from the slain suspect the two stolen cellphones and one fan knife.
PBGen. Montejo commended the security guards for their vigilance and dedication to their duty worthy of emulation. “Nawa ay magsilbing inspirasyon ang kanilang mabuting gawain hindi lamang sa kanilang pamilya kundi maging sa mga katrabaho nila”, PBGen Montejo added.
