Isko: Help me show our gratitude to frontliners.

IF you see or come across a medical worker, please, just say ‘thank you.’

This was the plea made by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to city residents, saying it is the least everyone can do to show appreciation for the life-threatening situation that health workers face nowadays.

“Pakisuyo sa inyo, pag nakakita kayo ng doktor, nurse, medical practitioner, health workers, just say thank you. Help me show our gratitude to frontliners kahit man lang sa ganun at bilang kapalit sa kanilang sakripisyo,” Moreno said.

On the other hand, Moreno vowed that the city government of Manila will not stop supporting the health frontliners in every way possible.

“Mahirap ang katayuan nila (health workers). Gusto ko maliwanagan na tayo, hindi mayor ang kailangan natin para matugunan ang COVID-19.  Ang kailangan natin doktor. Kami ay tagapagpatupad lang at taga-gawa ng polisiya pero pag napasok na sa ospital, doktor at nurse na ang kailangan at hindi politiko,” Moreno said.

He added: “Whether public or private, pag nakakita kayo ng doktor, just say thank you to show appreciation dahil for the past five month, di pa natulog ng maayos at kumpleto ang medical frontliner natin.”

The mayor said the recovery rate in Manila is fairly high because of the dedication of the city’s medical workers which the city government complements with care for their own health by hiring more medical professionals.

The purpose of this move is to ensure that the health frontliners in the six city-run hospitals will not be overworked, citing that during the past administration, health personnel worked hours beyond their supposed shifts due to lack of enough personnel.
