AN assurance was made by Mayor Isko Moreno to all judges that the city government of Manila is ready to lend its resources should they need it.
‘Gone are the days when the city was a ‘Republic of Manila,’as he vowed to work hand-in-hand with national entities to ensure a better city and future for Manilans.
In his speech at the ‘25th Annual Convention and Seminar on Powering Women Judge in the Cyber Age,’ Moreno told the women judges that just recently, he had tasked special mayor’s reaction team (SMART) chief Maj. Jhun Ibay to bring back to Cebu City a murder suspect who had gone into hiding in Manila.
Moreno said Ibay turned over to Cebu City, particularly the Mandaue City Police Office, the ‘Number 2 most wanted murder suspect’ in that city.
Ibay in his report, identified the arrested suspect as Boyet Abella, 29, of No. 1037-A Palawan Street, Sampaloc, Manila. He was wanted for murder with no bail recommended and was nabbed by virtue of an arrest warrant.
‘Pag me mga ‘wanted’ kayo, sabihin ninyo at kakalawitin natin. If you need the city resources for this, we are willing to help. Para me certainty...Wala nang ‘Republic of Manila’... kompromiso po namin ýan sa national government,’ he said.
‘Kaya kami napagtampuhan ng national agencies at napag-iwanan nang ilang taon… We are now a receptive city,’ Moreno added, as he also cited the city government’s cooperative efforts with national agencies such as the departments of health, public works and highways, tourism and transportation, among others.
