FIRE hit a thickly-populated residential area in Tondo Manila yesterday morning, razing to the ground about 20 houses.
FCol Gerandie Agonos, chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Manila, said the fire that hit Del PanStreet in Tondo began at around 9:30 a.m. and reached third alarm, until it was contained over an hour later.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno directed Re Fugoso, chief of the Manila Social Welfare Department (MSWD) and Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) Director Arnel Angeles to bring the fire victims to the Baseco Evacuation Center since the Del Pan Evacuation Center is currently being used as a quarantine facility for persons suspected of having the coronavirus or being monitored for the same reason.
Fugos said about 40 families were displaced by the said fire whose estimated damage to property was placed at around P100,000.
Probers are still investigating into what caused the fire.
