THE Justice Jose Abad Santos General Hospital (JJASGH) will temporarily not be accepting OB patients.
This was announced by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, saying the hospital has already more than double its capacity in terms of admitted patients.
Moreno said based on a report from hospital chief Dr. Merle Sacdalan, there is a need to close its admissions of OB patients ASAP, noting a current surge of OB patients going to JJASGH.
As of at 4 p.m. of August 8, Sacdalan said JJASGH already has a 233 percent occupancy rate. This means that its admitted patients are more than double the hospital’s capacity.
“There are six patients waiting to undergo cesarean section and we have only one operating room. Our other operating room is for COVID patients. Even non-duty OB Doctors are being recalled to help the duty team. There are 31 patients in the Recovery Room with a capacity of only eight,” Sacdalan said in her Facebook post.
“We need to temporarily close to decongest, to maintain distancing of patients, to avoid any complications, to protect and take care of our staff,” she added.
Meanwhile, Moreno said the OB patients may seek medical assistance from the other city-run hospitals. There are six hospitals being run by the city government of Manila.
