Lady doc killed in Pandacan bike mishap

A LADY doctor who was among those serving as frontliners for Manila died after meeting an accident while riding her bicycle in Pandacan, Manila.

Mayor Isko Moreno lamented having lost an extra hand in helping fight COVID-19 in Manila as he expressed his deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Ma  Teresa Dajao, 54, of 2184-D Saint Louie Compound, Balagtas St.,Pandacan, who died while being treated at the Ospital ng Maynila.

Truck driver Jeffrey Macayon, 36, of 040 Bongabon, Sampalucan, Nueva Ecija, surrendered to the police.

A probe by the Manila Police Traffic Enforcement Unit said that the accident took place at the corner of President Quirino Avenue and West Zamora Street in Pandacan at 4:20 p.m. on April 15.

The victim was reportedly biking along Quirino Avenue heading for the northbound lane while the truck being driven by Macayon was cruising behind her.  Moments later, the truck hit the bike and the doctor was thrown on impact, her head hitting the concrete ground.

Bystanders rushed the doctor to the hospital where she expired hours later.

Macayon had been charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
