COMMUTERS may now enjoy the Christmas-themed train of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1).
It was learned that the said attraction had been in place for the third year in a row.
The ‘Christmas train’ began serving LRT commuters last November 30 and is aimed at spreading the spirit of the holidays.
Its first passengers were 50 orphans from the Hospicio de San Jose and Pa-ngarap Foundation.
The kids expressed happiness as they gazed at the colorful decorations and lanterns as well as the Christmas balls and pine tree leaves that dotted the interior of the train.
The windows, meanwhile, had pictures of the different churches in the country and tourist attractions in Metro Manila.
From the train, the children were brought to the Christmas tree lighting at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Ermita, Manila.
Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) president and CEO Juan Alfonso said that apart from celebrating Christmas, the decorations were also meant to boost their ‘Ikot Manila’ campaign and entice commuters to ride the LRT as they go to their destinations all over the metro.
The colorful decorations are also meant to make the passengers’ ride enjoyable, as QR codes are also there for smartphones and which enables the commuters to obtain information about a certain place that interests them.
The said ‘Christmas train’ will be traveling from Roosevelt, Quezon City up to Baclaran in Parañaque City for the whole month of December.
