Lim praises Moreno on drive to restore lost glory of Manila

July 18, 2019

FORMER Manila Mayor Alfredo S. Lim and now Mayor Isko Moreno yesterday exchanged pleasantries and compliment each other at the joint event of the Rotary Clubs of Manila and Pasay City.

Lim introduced Moreno as the guest speaker in the event where he called the latter “Bagong Ama ng Maynila”, and a devoted public servant who is a role model.

“He is the most handsome man…kung naging babae lang ako matagal ko nang di-nate itong si Mayor Isko,” Lim joked as he cited Moreno for his distinct qualities and humble beginnings which he said, help  him (Moreno) understand how to bring back the lost old glory of Manila.

Moreno cited that he and Lim both grew up in Tondo which is why they know the problems of Manila inside out.

“Mayor Lim and I grew up in Tondo. Alam namin  ang kasu-kasuan at bukong-bukong ng Maynila. Mahirap intindihin ang mga problema ng Maynila kaya mahirap ang hindi ka taga-Maynila”, Moreno said.

He said the streets of Manila were clean during the time of Lim and only became chaotic when Lim left  City Hall, which is why he restored cleanliness, adding that the shrines and parks which were maintained by Lim were converted into toilets during the administration of Erap Estrada.

“Wala pa ‘kong ginagawa dahil ‘yung mga ginawa ko ay normal function lang ng isang mayor. Dugyot, libagin, banilin ngayon ang Maynila kaya literal na paliliguan namin ang Maynila,” he said.

Moreno asked for the cooperation and help of the public to make the restoration drive successful.
