A 70-year-old woman died after being hit by a sports utility vehicle while crossing Espana Boulevard in Sampaloc, Manila Thursday night.
Herminia Gutierrez, of 1539 Antipolo St., Sampaloc, died while receiving treatment in a hospital. The suspect, identified as Albert Dayego, 59, of Block 882, Lot 35, Ma. Asuncion Spring St., BFRV, Las Pinas City, had been charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
A report from the Manila Police District- Vehicle Traffic Investigation Section said that the accident took place at around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, at the corner of Espana Boulevard and Quintos Street in Sampaloc.
Police said that the victim was crossing the street when the westbound SUV, a Toyota Innova (TQV- 136) being driven by Dayego, hit her. The victim was thrown on impact.
Dayego brought the victim to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center from where she was transferred to the East Avenue Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
