
Man, 49, arrested for abusing stepdaughter
A MAN tagged as one of the most wanted persons in San Juan Ciry who has been accused of sexually abusing the 9-year old daughter of his live-in partner was nabbed by San Juan Police following an operation in his hideout in Tanay, Rizal Saturday morning.
In a report submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director PBrig. General Christopher Tambungan by San Juan Police chief, PCol. Ariel R.Fulo, the suspect was identified as Gerardo Altares, alias Jerry Kamatayan, 49, construction worker and residing at Block 12, Lot 8, South Ville 10, Halang na Gubat, Bgy. Plaza Aldea, Tanay, Rizal.
Joint teams of San Juan Police Intelligence Unit headed by PCpt. Jerry Boy Napagal and Warrant and Subpoena Unit headed by PEMS Eduardo Fronda collared Altares inside his hideout in Tanay, Rizal at around 6:30 am.
The arrest was virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Cesar Pabel Sulit, of San Juan Police Regional Trial Court (RTC) branch 162 for the crime of Other Acts of Child Abuse, according to Fulo.
Records showed Altares has been accused by his 9-year old stepdaughter of repeatedly abusing her in 2017 at their house in San Juan City.
After he was charged in court ,the suspect immediately escaped and hid in different places until police received an information that he was hiding in Tanay.
Fulo added the arrest was also the result of surveillance by his men who conducted operation in Tanay, Rizal where he was reportedly coddled by his friend for more than a year.
