PASIG Police nabbed a 39-year-old man after he allegedly raped his 13-year old neighbor in Pasig City on a weekends, then offered to marry the victim during a heated confrontation with her parents at the police station.
A belated report to Senior Supt. Rizalito Gapas, Pasig Police identified the suspect as Ramon Berin, 39, printer technician and resident of No. 177 Dr. Sixto Antonio St., Bgy Rosario, Pasig City.
The suspect was arrested after he was accused of allegedly raping his 13-year-old Grade 7 student on Sept. 12, 2018.
A team from Pasig Police Warrant and Subpoena Section headed by SPO4 Joey Jacla collared Berin inside his house in Bgy. Rosario on Saturday at around 11:40 p.m.
The arrest was based on the warrant issued by Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 261 Presiding Judge Florian Gregory Alabajon for charges of rape.
In her complaint affidavit, the girl said that prior to the incident, she had a drinking spree together with the suspect and other neighbors.
Later, the intoxicated victim and suspect went to the latter’s house to show his cellphone which the girl allegedly was about to borrow.
While inside the house the suspect started touching and undressing her.
The girl told police, she tried to resist. However, she, was overpowered by the suspect who was able to rape her.
The victim was accompanied by her parents in filing a complaint before the Women’s and Children Protection (WCPD).
The parents of the the minor said they trusted Berin because he was a very nice neighbor.
The suspect, meanwhile, belied the accusations, saying he was in the province, not in Pasig on the said day.
But, later Berin after a confrontation with the victim’s parents at the police station admitted the crime and said he was willing to marry the minor.
