A construction worker was stabbed and seriously wounded by his neighbor he earlier confronted for engaging his live-in partner into a heated argument Monday evening in Navotas City.
Alvin Leongson, 31 of R. Domingo St. Brgy. Tangos-North was still fighting for his life at the Tondo Medical Center where he underwent surgical operation for lone stab wound in the abdomen while the suspect, identified as Edwin Perez, 23 was arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by P/Cpl. Ervin Montederamos and P/Cpl. Petty Bordallo of Navotas Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2.
Navotas police chief P/Col. Rolando Balasabas said that earlier at around 6:20 p.m., the victim confronted the suspect when they met along R. Domingo St. upon learning that the latter engaged his live-in partner Edwina Nicholas into an argument for still unknown reason.
The suspect allegedly got irked and went inside his house but returned minutes later already armed with kitchen knife and stabbed Leongson in the abdomen.
Nicholas, who witnessed the incident, immediately rushed her live-in partner to Navotas City Hospital but later transferred to Tondo Medical Center while the suspect hurriedly fled, bringing with him the weapon used.
Col. Balasabas said the suspect is now temporarily placed under police custody pending his presentation before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings on charges for frustrated murder.
