A JOBLESS man stabbed and wounded a tricycle driver before he deliberately set the victim’s house on fire yesterday before dawn in Malabon City.
Ramil Ramos, 52, was asleep inside his house at 49-A Gov. Andres St., Gabriel Subdivision, Bgy. Hulong Duhat when the suspect, identified as JR Alcantara, 24, of Gabriel St. barged in at around 1:15 a.m. and stabbed the victim repeatedly in the body before setting his house on fire.
With the quick response of Fire Volunteers and the Malabon Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire which partially destroyed house victim’s was immediately put off.
Malabon police homicide investigator SSgt. Richard Andrew Calaycay said fire volunteers who found Ramos sprawled bloodied inside his burning house rushed him to Tondo Medical Center and is now in stable condition.
Elements of Malabon Police Community Precinct (PCP) composed of MSgt. Bobby De Guzman and Cpl. Jose Semillano who responded to the area was informed by fire volunteers that a stabbing incident happened before the fire broke out.
The two police officers proceeded to the hospital where they were told by the victim during interview that Alcantara forcibly barged inside his house and stabbed him repeatedly in the body.
A follow-up operation was immediately conducted that resulted in the arrest of Alcantara. He was positively identified by the victim when arresting cops brought him to the hospital for confrontation.
Police said they are still conducting a follow-up investigation to establish the motive behind the incident.
