THE city government of Malabon conducted almost 4,000 swab tests to its residents following the conversion of Oreta Sports Center into a COVID Mega Swab Facility aimed to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

Mayor Lenlen Oreta said they have to act and think of a way to control the continued surge of COVID-19 positive in the city by conducting mass swab test to residents and isolate those who will be found positive for the virus.

City Health Department head Dr. Bobby Romero for his part said their target is to conduct test to 1,000 Malabonians a day since they already recorded 2,500 COVID positive and they are expecting the number to increase following the mass swab tests at the mega swab facility.

Dr. Romero clarified that they pushed for the mass swabbing to identify those who are positive for the virus and put them in isolation facility while with severe illness of COVID-19 must be brought to the hospital.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the city of Malabon conducted swab test to more than 14,000 residents. Dr. Romero said those who wanted to undergo swab test should coordinate with the health centers located in every barangay.

Meanwhile, Mayor Oreta called on barangay leaders to stay alert against COVID-19 and lay safety measures to control the spread of the virus.

“Magtulungan tayong lahat sa panahong ito at ipakita na buhay na buhay ang ating programang #BayanihangMalabonian at #MaskSafeSaMalabon,” Mayor Oreta said.
