ONE of the two motorcycle thieves who earlier victimized a 17-year-old boy and his friend was killed in an encounter with policemen yesterday before dawn in Caloocan city.
The still unidentified suspect, wearing navy blue jacket and white cap, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the body while his cohort managed to escape towards an unknown direction.
Caloocan deputy police chief P/Lt. Col. Ilustre Mendoza said that prior to the shootout, the 17-year-old minor and his friend identified as John Romy Torrado, 23, were on board a Yamaha Mio motorcycle when the suspects blocked their path at around 1:30 a.m. along Nadurata Street at the corner of 7th Avenue.
At gun point, the suspects grabbed the victim’s belongings before they forcibly took the motorcycle and sped away towards Barangay 12.
Torrado and the minor victim immediately sought police assistance prompting P/Maj. Raymond Nicolas, chief of Station Intelligence Branch (SIB) to conduct a follow-up operation.
