PDEA chair Director General Aaron N. Aquino shows an estimated P27 million worth of shabu stashed in tomato sauce cans during a controlled delivery operation in Navotas City.

A CONTROLLED delivery operation conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Navotas City on Wednesday led to the recovery of an estimated four kilograms of shabu worth around P27 million, all found stashed in tomato sauce cans.

PDEA chair Director General Aaron N. Aquino said the sting conducted at No. 1357 M. Naval Street in Barangay San Roque, Navotas City, resulted in the arrest of Edna Valenzuela alias’ Belinda Azures,’44; and her daughter Judy Ann, 22, at around 5:30 p.m.

The operatives found two boxes of tomato sauce cans containing shabu which were sent from Las Vegas City in Nevada, USA.

Aquino said that agents discovered the contraband at the Clark International Airport prompting them to conduct the controlled delivery operation aimed at arresting the recipient of the package.

The elder Valenzuela claimed she was not aware that the package contained shabu and insisted that a friend merely instructed her to receive the delivery with the promise of payment for the job.
