THE former executive assistant of ex-Makati mayor Junjun Binay has died from the serious gunshot injury she suffered from a riding-in-tandem assassin.
Monaliza “Monette” Bernardo did not survive surgery at the Makati Medical Center. She died Friday night.
Bernardo was ambushed Thursday evening at her residence in Barangay Olympia, Makati City by two suspects on a motorcycle.
A bullet from a .45 pistol pierced the victim’s right hand and lodged in her abdomen.
Immediately after the attack Makati Mayor Abby Binay ordered the Makati City Police Office to solve the case as soon as possible.
Former Vice President Jejomar Binay asked for prayers for the woman he described as a close family friend and offered a P1 million prize for the immediate arrest of the killers.
Junjun Binay in his Facebook post said: “My family and I mourn her passing, and extend our love and prayers to her loved ones during this heartbreaking time. The sadness and pain we feel today is indescribable; but it is matched by our resolve to secure justice for Monette and her loved ones.”
