Moreno: Most PUIs in Manila from Sampaloc and Tondo

March 27, 2020

MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno has told residents of Manila to stay at home as he bared that the bulk of COVID-19 patients and persons under investigation (PUIs) are from Sampaloc and Tondo.

At the same time Moreno extended his condolences to the families of doctors, nurses, health personnel and law enforcers who have died from COVID-19.

Moreno said that as of March 26, the number of COVID 19 patients in the city has already reached 36, with four being the latest addition. He said 11 out of 36 are from Sampaloc.

Manila also has a total of 144 PUIs and 30 percent of them are from the first and second districts of Tondo.

Moreno also cited San Andres, Pandacan, Sta. Cruz and Baseco as among the problem areas when it comes to full compliance with social distancing, curfew and enhanced community quarantine.

Meanwhile 76,632 families have already received food packs with the help of Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and social welfare department chief Re Fugoso.

“As long as dumating supply, di mag-iinit puwet,  iaabot agad namin sa inyo.  Sa Sta. Mesa, naka-plastic bag pasensiya na,” Moreno said, as he appealed for understanding that those delivered to Sta. Mesa area were no longer in boxes but in bags, saying he wants things done quicker to be able to reach more families.
