MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno yesterday called upon the officers and members to help his administration and in exchange, he will give his support to them in every way possible.

In a command conference at the Manila Police District headquarters, MPD officials presented various situations needed to be addressed. Moreno vowed to help them but also enumerated that he wanted to get rid of dirty precincts, policemen sleeping while on duty, illegal terminals and crimes.

The mayor specifically identified areas to be cleared with illegal vendors such as Pedro Gil, Ronquillo, Evangelista, Recto, under LRT areas, Soler, Juan Luna, Blumentritt and Paco. He said he wanted the streets to be given back to pedestrians and motorists.

Moreno was applauded when he assured the policemen of support including in the financial aspect. He assured them that the ordinance he authored giving additional allowances to the police would be fully implemented.

Meanwhile, Mayor Joy Belmonte’s first flag-raising ceremony yesterday as the city chief executive was all about promises starting from honoring employees who are serving the city government with much dedication for years to putting corrupt and the undesirables to shame.

Speaking in front of thousands of city workers, department heads and officials to include the newly-elected councilors and the police, Belmonte said she will be very quick in recognizing the good ones while very strict against the bad eggs.

“My advocacy is good governance at isa sa gagawin natin ay bigyang parangal ang mga outstanding employees natin, meron din dito na may ilang taon ng nagtatrabaho pero hindi pa permanent at mayroon naman na tatlong buwan pa lamang ay permanent na. Aayusin po natin yan” she said to the delight of the attendees.

While the lady mayor promised that no massive dismissal of employees to happen in her term, she will not hesitate to immediately dismiss the erring ones.

“I will file case sa mga corrupt building officials, matakot na kayo. Tatlong tao ang lumapit at nagreklamo sa akin na kumuha ng building permit, nagbigay na daw sila ng  lagay pero  after 2 yrs pa nila nakuha ang building  permit. I’m not afraid to divulge your name, I will put you to shame if you bring shame to QC,” Belmonte said.
