AS precautionary and preventive measure, the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals are all equipped with the safety Personal Protective Suits to assist incoming passengers who are positive with novel Corona Virus (nCoV).
“We have all the safest suits in assisting incoming passengers from China, Hong Kong and Macau and other parts of the world who are inflicted with nCoV ARD. These are disposable to prevent the virus from spreading,” said BOQ physician Geraldine Yangson.
“Indeed, we have different suits for Ebola virus, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (Merscov) and nCoV, a one-time use only except for the rubber boots that can be washed,” Yangson added.
Yangson explained that the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) provided them an isolation room -- a very important facility -- near the tarmac for incoming passengers found inflicted with the killer disease.
Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines (PAL) spokesperson Cielo Villaluna and Cebu Pacific spokesperson Charo Lagamon said they are in close coordination with the Department of Health (DOH) and BOQ in the process of contacting passengers based on safety protocols in dealing with the new virus.
Villaluna and Lagamon provided the BoQ the necessary flight manifest data which is a very important in tracking the location of all passengers.
