Government agents nabbed 15 Chinese allegedly involved in illegal online gambling activities during separate operations in Manila and Angeles City.
National Bureau of Investigation Director Dante Gierran identified those arrested in Manila as Pan Jianbei, Pan Taiyuan, Jie Lu, Shengbo Zhang and Jian Lou Zhou and those apprehended in Angeles City as Yu Shize, Lin Hai Yang, Li Jun Qing, Yu Wen Quian, Xiao Wen Lao, Cai Shui Rong, Lin Jingming, Ju Shi Lin, Qiu Zai Wei and Xiao Jian Ze.
Gierran said the NBI’s Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) conducted the operations in Manila on Nov. 22 and in Angeles City on Nov. 21.
All suspects have been charged for violating Presidential Decree 1602, the Anti-Illegal Gambling Act, in relation to Republic Act 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
Armed with search warrants, the NBI arrested the five Chinese nationals in three condominium units at a building in Malate, Manila based on the complaints of foreign nationals living in the area.
During the operation, the suspects failed to produce the necessary license and permits required in operating an online gambling business.
Seized from them were mobile WiFi, router, smartphones, laptops and desktops.
While the operation in Angeles City is based on the complaint against illegal online gambling activities at the residence of a certain Li Kun Ling in Punta Verde Subdivision.
The NBI collared 10 Chinese during the raid. Seized from them were desktop computers, smartphones, SIM cards, a router, a WiFi connector and a brush machine.
