NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar yesterday said 5,500 uniformed personnel will be deployed to help guard next week’s state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The official said that they will be providing road and perimeter security during the visit of the Chinese president while the Presidential Security Group will be in charge of the close-in security.
The Manila Police District headed by Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr. and the Southern Police District under Senior Supt. Eliseo Cruz will be providing the main muscle for the NCRPO security force with augmentation troops coming from the Police Regional Office 4-A.
Eleazar said all security preparations are in place for the Chinese leader’s visit and that they have not monitored any direct threats to the event.
The Chinese president will be in the country on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the efforts of China and the Philippines to further strengthen its ties.
