SECURITY troops on Friday morning raided a suspected safehouse of an arrested National Democratic Front consultant in Marikina City where they seized two grenades and other deadly weapons, National Capital Region Police Office chief, Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said yesterday.
Armed with a search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and explosives issued by Judge Cecylyn Burgos-Villavert of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 89, combined officers from the NCRPO Regional Special Operations Unit, the Joint Special Operations Group of the Joint Task Force-NCR of the Armed Forces of the Philippine and the Army Intelligence Regiment stormed house no. 34-A at Chrysanthemum Street, Loyola Residents, Civic Organizations in Barangay Barangka, Marikina City shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, the official said.
One target of the raiding team identified as Ryan Dizon alias ‘Chef’ was not around during the search and is still being tracked down as of press time, said Eleazar.
He said Dizon’s co-respondent Renante Gamara, a 61-year old former NDF consultant has been arrested last March 20 by troops during an operation in Imus City in Cavite.
Eleazar said in the presence of local barangay officials, officers searched the house where they discovered two hand grenades, one handgun with live ammunition, five different photographs of Gamara and some suspected rebel documents.
He said that charges for violation of Republic Act 9516 or illegal possession of explosives and RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 will be filed against the respondents.
