NAVOTAS City Mayor Toby Tiangco and Congressman John Rey Tiangco continued to provide relief assistance to residents of the city, including drivers of public utility transport vehicles amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The continued distribution of relief goods was announced by the city government’s Public Information Office following the reported begging of alms by some members of jeepney operators and drives association along Lapu-Lapu Avenue in Bgy. North Bay Boulevard after losing their jobs during the implementation of enhanced community quarantine.
The drivers however clarified that they were pleading with the national government and not from the local government to include them in the list of beneficiaries at the second wave of financial assistance under the special amelioration program (SAP) or be allowed to resume their operations.
It was learned that Mayor Tiangco and his brother Cong. John Rey continued to provide 10 kilos of rice to every household, two packs of biscuits, 32 packs of canned goods apart from the relief goods being provided by barangay officials.
