THE Navotas City Government already released P6.4 million in advanced additional compensation to all contract of service (COS) and job order (JO) employees affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
The 1,070 non-plantilla employees of the city government received P6,000 as their first quarter incentive. The amount is double their usual quarterly benefits.
All COS and JO employees who had worked for six months as of March 2020 were given supplemental remuneration.
Mayor Toby Tiangco said the initiative aimed to ensure that all city government employees have enough funds to sustain themselves and their respective families for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine.
“We are optimistic that the early release of their quarterly bonus, together with their uninterrupted salary, will persuade them to comply with the mandatory home quarantine and help the community minimize the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19),” Mayor Tiangco said.
The mayor previously announced, through a memorandum order released on March 16, that all employees, regardless of status, will continue to receive their full salary up until the enhanced community quarantine is lifted on April 14.
“These employees are the backbone of the city government’s operation. We need to protect and support them during this time of need,” he added.
