THE city government of Navotas started the construction of the expansion of Navotas City Hospital (NCH) following the groundbreaking yesterday morning.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Cong. Toby Tiangco led the groundbreaking ceremony attended by other officials of the local government, department heads and barangay officials.
“Ito na ang kaganapan ng isa pa nating pangarap -- ang mapalawak ang kakayanan ng ating ospital na makapagserbisyo sa mas marami nating ma-mamayan,” Mayor Tiangco said in his speech.
Currently, the NCH offered services including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, community and out-patient services, laboratory, X-ray, ultrasound, dental services and hemodialysis.
NCH opened to the public in 2015 with a 50-bed capacity and since then, the admissions in the hospital rose significantly.
Cong. Tiangco, for his part, reminded the hospital staffs and employees that as public servants, they should show respect and humility in dealing with patients and their relatives and served them with compassion and empathy.
“Saludo ako at nagpapasalamat sa inyong ginagawa. Hindi madali ang pagsisilbi sa kapwa, lalo na kung buhay ang nakataya. Hangad ko lang na pahabain n’yo pa ang inyong pasensya at laliman ang pang-unawa para sa ating mga kababayang maysakit,” he said.
When Cong. Tiangco was still the local chief executive of the city, he started the mass enrollment of indigent Navoteños to the PhilHealth program to help ensure the hospital’s self-sufficiency and sustainability.
