THE Navotas city government announced on Monday that residents of the city can now apply for cash-for-work program to give them a chance to earn extra income.
Mayor Toby Tiangco said the local government is in need of 1,000 applicants for the job and application form will be distributed in front of Comelec Office Navotas which started Monday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. until August 28.
The city chief executive said only 200 applicants per day will be accepted to ensure that physical distancing will be observed as he reminded that everyone should wear their face mask and face shield properly to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The cash-for-work allows unemployed, underprivileged individuals and indigent to earn at least 75 percent of the daily minimum wage set by the national government.
Meanwhile, Mayor Tiangco was informed by the Navotas City Health Office that another 68 patients were allowed to go home on Monday after they recovered from the virus, bringing a total number of recovered patients to 3,245 while 13 out of 104 residents who underwent swab test were found positive for the deadly disease.
As of 8 p.m. on Monday, Mayor Tiangco said the city has a total of 4,092 confirmed cases of COVID -19 with 732 active cases and115 deaths.
