A 52-year-old businessman was killed in broad daylight by riding-in-tandem gunmen Thursday morning in Navotas City.
Domingo Panganiban, of Block 9, Lot 22, Phase 1-B, Bgy. North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS), was on the driver’s seat of his delivery vehicle, a Ford Fierra (TTT-801) when two men on board a motorcycle arrived and shot him twice in the head, killing him instantly. The suspects sped away towards C-4 Road.
Navotas police deputy chief for operation Chief Insp. Ilustre Mendoza said the incident happened at 8:45 a.m. in front of Manalo Store at 412 NBBS while the victim’s helper, Romeo Almendras, 35, was loading empty bottles of beer.
Elements of Navotas Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 immediately conducted a follow-up operation but failed to arrest the suspects.
Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered two empty shells for still unknown caliber of firearm which will be submitted to NPD Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.
Investigators are eyeing several angles into the killing, including business rivalry and personal grudge.
