February 18, 2019

DEFENSE Secretary Delfin N. Lorenzana has ordered the Philippine Navy to turn over several portions of the Navy Golf Course in Fort Bonifacio to their qualified owners from the Armed Forces and the Philippine National Police, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

In his Department Order No. 42 issued last February 6, the Defense chief directed Navy Flag-Officer-in-Command Admiral Robert Empedrad to relinquish control of the area comprising the Philippine Navy Golf Course to qualified and legitimate lot owners of the AFP Officers Village through the AFP Officers Village Association, Inc. (AFPOVAI).

Records showed that on September 28, 1965, then President Diosdado Macapagal issued Proclamation No. 461 which excluded from the operation of Fort Bonifacio, a portion of land consisting of 2,445,310 square meters and declared the same as AFP Officers Village.
