COMBINED agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the National Capital Region Police Office on Friday evening arrested 44 Chinese nationals during a raid in a compound in Parañaque City, NCRPO director, Major General Debold M. Sinas said.
Also arrested during the operation inside the Mayuga Compound in Barangay Tambo were nine male Filipinos working for the Chinese networking company which hired the 44 Chinese nationals, 14 of them females and 30 all males.
Recovered during the operation were 35 laptop computers, 17 desktop computers, 400 pieces of mobile phones, three caliber .45 pistols, two 9mm semi-automatic pistols and five magazines with 63 live ammunition.
Officers also confiscated 73 Chinese passports, P1,335,010 in cash and 255 Yuan during the operation which was conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday amid complaints regarding wanton violation of the quarantine law inside the compound.
The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013, RA 1132 otherwise known as the “Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act” to protect people from public health threats through the efficient and effective disease surveillance of diseases of public health concern; and RA 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.
