A notorious robbery holdup suspect who earlier robbed at gunpoint a 38-year-old woman was killed in an encounter with authorities Saturday before dawn in Caloocan City.
Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 head Chief Insp. Raymond Nicolas said the still unidentified suspect, described as about 40 to 45 years old, wearing blue cap, black polo shirt and black short pants died on the spot from bullet wounds in the body.
PCP-3 desk officer PO1 Reynante Duldulan in an interview said that earlier at around 3 a.m. Rosemarie Alcantara of Phase 4 Package 3 Block 20 Lot 1 Bgy. 176 Bagong Silang was walking on his way to the public market when the suspect blocked her path along Phase 4B Package 9 Block 78 and at gunpoint announced a holdup.
After divesting her handbag containing undetermined amount of cash, cellular phone and personal belongings, the suspect immediately fled, prompting the victim to seek police assistance.
Operatives of PCP-3 led by Chief Insp. Nicolas conducted a follow-up operation until they chanced upon the suspect along Phase 9.
Upon sensing the presence of lawmen, the suspect pulled out his handgun and fired towards the approaching policemen who retaliated and hit him in the body, killing him instantly.
Police recovered from the slain suspect a caliber .38 revolver, six pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing undetermined quantity of shabu and personal belongings of his latest victim.
