THE Office of the Ombudsman has filed a graft case before the Sandiganbayan against a former mayor of Lucban, Quezon after appointing his sister to two positions allegedly despite not being qualified.
Based on a charge sheet signed by Ombudsman Samuel Martires on October 11, one count of alleged violation of Section 3(e) of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act was filed against former Mayor Celso Olivier Dator.
The prosecution recommended a bail bond of P30,000 for the temporary liberty of Dator.
According to the prosecution, Dator “willfully and unlawfully” appointed his sister, Maria Lyncelle Macandile, as chief administrative officer and municipal administrator.
The prosecution said Macandile was allegedly not qualified for the positions in the municipal government under the Local Government Code.
It also added that the hiring is allegedly in violation of the Civil Service Law, which is against public interest and government service.
