Authorities confiscated more than P1 million worth of alcohol being sold overpriced from a female suspect on Tuesday in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Brigadier General Ronnie S Montejo identified the suspect as Merlita Toong, 47, beautician, a resident of No. 1293 Buenavidez Street, Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The report showed that authorities received information from a confidential informant that the suspect was selling alcohol, face masks and safety goggles beyond the suggested retail price (SRP). A gallon of the alcohol was being sold by the suspect at P690 while according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) the SRP is P520.
In coordination with the DTI, joint operatives from the Quezon City Criminal Investigation and Detection Group District Field Unit (QC-CIDG-DFU), QCPD District Intelligence Division (DID), and 301st SMG Philippine Air Force (PAF) a buy-bust was conducted at about 2:30 p.m. April 7, 2020, at Must Have Beauty Parlor, l located on 1293 Buenavidez Street, Sta Cruz, Manila.
A poseur buyer ordered 50 gallons of Isopropyl Alcohol, 20 boxes of disposable face masks and safety goggles which amounted to P126,600. The suspect was arrested after receiving the vuy bust money.
