Suspected shabu worth P13.6 million was seized by combined elements of the San Juan Police Station and Northern Police District (NPD) following a raid on a condominium unit which served as storage for illegal drugs of the arrested alleged Korean chemist in San Juan City Thursday night.
Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes, San Juan police chief, led a joint team of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) and NPD and found two kilos of suspected shabu, undertermined quality of uncontrolled precursors and chemicals, several shabu paraphernalia, weighing scales and cash amounting to P450,000 during the raid.
In a report submitted to Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Supt. Bernabe Balba, the shabu and chemicals greeted the raiding teams at the rented condo unit of Kim Jong Hee, located in Greenhills, Connecticut St., San Juan City, at around 10:30 p.m.
The raid was based on the search warrant issued by Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 152 Executive Judge Danilo Reyes.
According to Reyes, the raid was conducted following the arrest of Kim, along with his Filipino cohort one Marvin Yu during a series of raids on Wednesday in Caloocan City and San Juan and seized several gallons of chemicals and equipment which can produce P2.2 billion worth of illegal drugs loaded in a van in Pasig City.
After his arrest, Reyes said Kim confessed that he was hiding illegal drugs and chemicals in his rented condo unit which police immediately applied for search warrant to implement the operation.
The San Juan police had been conducting surveillance against Kim on intelligence information that he was involved in the manufacturing of illegal drugs and his condo unit served as storage of illegal drugs.
Reyes added they have been tailing Kim for quite sometime and monitoring to trace the source of a reported huge volume of illegal drugs.
Charges of violation of Secs. 8, 10, 11 and 12 of RA 9165 is being readied against the suspect before the San Juan City Prosecutor’s Office.
