VEGETABLE cooperatives from the province of Batangas expressed gratitude to the city of Paranaque for purchasing their crops which were distributed to poor families in the city affected by the ongoing enhanced quarantine community.
After buying the crops, Mayor Edwin Olivarez began yesterday distributing the vegetables including rice and canned goods to the family food pack to nearly two thousand households in the city.
“Hindi lang dapat puro canned goods ang kina-kain ng mga tao ngayong panahon ng crisis dapat healthy diet din para malakas ang resistensiya at maiwasan ang COVID-19 virus,” ayon kay Olivarez.
Among the vegetables purchased in Batangas are fresh eggplants, string beans, eggplants and squash which is included in the third batch of family food packs distribution since March 16, city Treasurer Dr. Anthony Pulmano announced.
According to Pulmano, the city also provided funds to buy 100,000 kilograms of sugar to be distributed to the city's poor families next week for the fourth wave of the family food pack.
Pulmano also encouraged residents to plant vegetables in their backyard as the city undergoes ECQ and even after the crisis.
