Paranaque execs donate one-month salaries to indigent residents

PARANAQUE City Mayor Edwin Olivarez disclosed yesterday that all department heads of the city government decided to donate their salaries this month to indigent residents of barangay 16 affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

City treasurer Dr. Anthony Pulmano, who led the “Bayanihan” purposely to accumulate an additional fund said he, together with 14 other city department heads agreed to grant their one month salaries totaling P2 million to buy rice and other essential food items as additional assistance to residents of the barangay.

Earlier, Mayor Olivarez shelled out from his own pocket P10 million to buy gift certificates which were distributed to pedicab, tricycle and other public utility drivers who lost their jobs following the imposition of lockdown.

Aside from the department heads, Vice Mayor Rico Golez, City Administrator Fernando “Ding” Soriano and Association of Barangay Captain (ABC) president Cris Aguilar also donated their one-month salary to the local government as an additional fund intended for the current crisis

For his part, the city chief executive, announced that the local government will expand the amelioration program to the families belonging to middle class who were residing in a private subdivision by means of giving them free rice and face masks to relieve them from economic poverty brought about by COVID -19 pandemic.
