‘Pares’ vendor shot by holdupper dies

February 26, 2020

AFTER fighting for dear life for nine days, the ‘pares’ vendor who was shot in the neck pointblank by  an unremorseful drug-crazed suspect has died the other night at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).

In her social media post, Sheryl  Paregas announced that her brother Samson Bautista passed away at around 9 p.m. Part of the bullet that went to his nape had been removed.

It will be recalled that Bautista was first brought to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial   Medical Center (GABMMC) where he was attended to by hospital director Dr. Ted Martin.  Later that day, Martin accompanied Mayor Isko Moreno when the latter paid the victim a visit, where he even joked with him and then offered the victim a permanent vending place.

Before that, Moreno went to the police station where the suspect,  Alexander Ogdamina,  36, of Gasangan, Baseco Compound, Port Area was detained after being arrested.

The  Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the victim’s death certificate will have to be brought to the Manila Prosecutor’s Office in order to upgrade the charges against the suspect from homicide to murder.
