Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chair, Director General Aaron N. Aquino yesterday said he has ordered a stepped-up drive to account for more ‘high-value targets’ or HVTs in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The official said that follow-up operations are already underway to identify and arrest the main source of high-grade shabu seized from a group of drug dealers arrested by his men in a string of anti-narcotics operations in the metropolis this week.
They include the source of the drugs recovered from the possession of Kenjie Martin, Rudy Gutan, Vicente Francisco and Jayzon Luza who were arrested at 3 p.m. last Monday during a buy-bust operation in a gasoline station along 4th Avenue corner Rizal Avenue in East Grace Park, Caloocan City.
Recovered from the suspects by officers from the PDEA National Capital Region led by Director Joel Plaza were more than P2 million worth of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine,’ one motorcycle, a mobile phone they used in making the drug transaction and the marked money.
Aquino also wants to get the main source of the kilo of shabu worth P6.8 million recovered by members of the PDEA Special Enforcement Service headed by Director Levi Ortiz from Jane Morales and Eleazar Sta. Ana during an entrapment operation in front of a restaurant along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City late afternoon Wednesday.
A 3rd suspect identified only as alias ‘Bapa’ is still being tracked down by PDEA-SES operatives.
Another target of follow-up operations are the main source of the huge volume of shabu recovered from Nigerian national Christian Chukwuebuka Okoye and his pal Anthony Lusay during an entrapment operation along Marcos Alvarez Avenue in Las Piñas City at 2:30 p.m. last Wednesday.
Recovered from the duo by undercover officers from the PDEA-NCR were some two kilos of suspected shabu with a market value of P13.6 million, two mobile phones, a weighing scale and the marked money paid to them by an undercover operative.
