Peruvian couple found hanging lifeless at home

A COUPLE believed to be Japanese but were identified as Peruvian nationals were found dead, bloated and hanging by the neck by their workers inside their home in San Miguel, Manila.

The Manila Police District-homicide section identified the victims as Helio Masao Minami Konishi, 59, and Sonia Akemi Tanaka Noguchi, 55, owners of Elokito Best Food at 382 Matienza St., San Miguel, Manila.

Police said the two were found in the living room, hanging by the neck with the use of a nylon cord that was tied to the ceiling.

Found on them were bundles of P20 bills and nine brown envelopes with the names of their workers and a note that said, “please extend the salary to my boys”.

Roel Rivera, 38, who works as a cook for the victims, told the police that he last saw the victims alive last February 24, when they closed their canteen located on Campa Street in Sampaloc.

Prober PCpl. Allan Lingcong said Rivera sought help from barangay chairman Lino Lim after smelling stench coming from the victims’ home on February 28 and after his knocks went unanswered.
