A Filipino businessman and his two South Korean friends were arrested while in possession of more than US$ 200,000 counterfeit Wednesday evening in a hotel-casino in Pasay City.
Pasay City Police Chief P/Col. Bernard Yang identified the arrested suspects as Fernando Silanga, 44, businessman and resident of Living Stone Building, Aqua Private Residence, Mandaluyong City, Tiange Wu, 31, casino operator and presently billeted at Cluster 6, 6th floor, Montecito Condominium, New Port, Bgy. 183, Villamor, Pasay City and Song Ho Sang, 53, of Santiago City, Isabela
Col. Yang presented the arrested suspects to Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/Brig. Gen. Eliseo Cruz and National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Major Gen. Guillermo Eleazar and said they are still hunting down the fourth suspect, identified as James Park, also a Korean national who managed to escape.
The suspects were arrested by elements of Villamor Police Community Precinct (PCP) at around 7:55 p.m. at the 3rd Floor, Genting Cage Grand Wing Casino of the Resort World Manila in New Port City, Bgy. 183, Villamor.
Col. Yang said gaming security personnel of the hotel sought the assistance of Villamor PCP when they discovered that the suspects were carrying counterfeit US dollars amounting to 288,700 while trying to enter in the Grand Wing of Resort World Manila.
The arrested suspects will be charged for violating Article 168 or the Illegal Possession and Use of False Treasury Bank Notes and Estafa before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
