A police asset was killed when he was caught in a crossfire between police and a notorious drug pusher who was also shot to death before dawn yesterday in Makati City.
Makati police chief Sr. Supt. Roger Simon identified the slain police asset only as a certain alias “Michael” who died on the spot, along with Kevin Ersando alias “Scarface,” an alleged notorious drug pusher who engaged the lawmen in a shootout.
Prior to the incident, elements of Makati Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) conducted a buy-bust operation against Ersando at around 3:35 p.m. along J.P. Rizal Extension, Bgy. Cembo with the assistance of Michael who served as pointman.
While in the middle of the transaction between Ersando, Michael and a police-poseur-buyer, the suspect, after sensing that he was dealing with police decoy, pulled out his handgun and engaged lawmen in a shooutout.
During the exchange of gunfire, Michael and Ersando were hit in their bodies, killing them instantly.
Police recovered from the slain suspect a caliber 38 revolver, a hand grenade and a motorcycle key.
